Genelec 8351 Gets Top Marks at dBs Music
dBs Music started delivering music production and technology training back in 1998, and has now grown to encompass three campuses in the South West of England (in Bristol, Plymouth and Pool) plus another site at Berlin’s unique Funkhaus.
During that time dBs Music has gained a reputation for offering great facilities, knowledgeable and experienced tutors, and equipping students with the real-world skills and expertise to go out and successfully make their way in the music and audio industries.
In our latest One On One video interview, we talk to dBs Music tutor Chris Littlewood on why Genelec SAM technology works so brilliantly in a busy educational environment. Having equipped their flagship Bristol lecture theatre with a Genelec 5.1 system, Chris explained that it was a logical step to go on and install 8351s in their main studios:
“One of the nice things about the 8351s is that, because of the sort of the technology that's inside them, it means we can literally move them into any space without the real niggly problems that you get normally with taking monitors into different spaces. You can pretty much just put them where you want them to be, and they do the rest - which is an absolute godsend for a place like this.”
Being able to quickly move and re-purpose equipment to adapt to changing course requirements is a key benefit when working in higher education, so Genelec SAM technology - with GLM calibration software – makes everyone’s life that much easier at dBs Music:
“Because you don't have to put a week aside in terms of technician time to get the room set up and calibrated, it's literally something that they can do in a few hours.”
